My first painting on black canvas had to be a night painting with a full moon, of course, and the beautiful reflections of moonlight. What animal rules the night? For me, in the Ozarks, it is the owl, a gorgeous predatory bird. I painted this owl with the moonlight reflecting through its wings as it swoops down to catch its prey, a scared little mouse in the grass.
